Teaching and Mentorship
I really enjoyed Dr. Miller's class. She will FOREVER come highly recommended by me. She is so compassionate and she genuinely cares about our progress and growth as industry professionals. I hope she never stops teaching because everything she does and says is extremely impactful and inspirational. I hope she knows she has tremendously changed the lives of the future generation of reporters, producers and media professionals.
One of my favorite professors at UA! She gives feedback that is actually helpful for the future and is always willing to meet with students one-on-one to address any questions we have about classwork or our personal careers/futures.
Dr. Miller is easily accessible and always there to answer any questions you may have. I like how she teaches by using her own examples from her broadcasting days. Her lectures and PowerPoints are very informative, and her expectations are always clear. I also liked how she reevaluated the course based on our thoughts during the midpoint of the semester.
Passionate Educator

Practice.

Growth.
Mentorship.

Professionalism.
As a professor, the classroom is where my professional background meets my academic expertise. It is here that eduction is lived in application of skills through experiential learning that is hands on. In journalism courses, I push students to think critically about the stories they tell and the work they produce. It is hear they learn what is means to think critically, while also producing work creatively. In graduate education, I encourage students to spend time immersed in literature, where they might find the places they can add value, while also making educated critiques to complex arguments.

My educational philosophy is grounded in a growth mindset that values improvement over perfection, and reflection over criticism. I believe this is where students are given the tools to grow long after they leave my classroom.
